Colorblock Collision

All around where I work these vines tangle themselves up the sides of buildings. I am fascinated by them and cannot wait to see what they look like in full bloom when spring arrives. For now they make a superb outfit photo background. Rain had been steadily falling outside a few hours before I took these photos so everything was wet and rich with color. And I knew it was the perfect setting for this dress. I love how it is mundane and grey with a pop of magenta. I always feel I so designerly when I wear this dress, which I suppose is just living up to my title. I wanted to winterize this outfit a bit more with tights, a buttoned sweater and the tulle skirt as a slip. Layers and tights are essential to dresses in winter. Adding the tulle skirt is quite multi-functional and made this sundress quite warm.

Colorblock Dress & Tulle Detail

The design of this dress is reminiscent of 80s fashion mixed with early minimalism. I love the collision of such opposites and threw in the patterned tights to add even more confusion.

Apropos Camera Necklace

I feel a little like a tourist in this outfit so I thought it apropos to wear my camera necklace gifted from my in-laws. And my mother’s ring circa 1970ish that only fits my pinky finger.

If you happen to be on Chictopia, Weardrobe, Lookbook.nu or Flickr friend me and we can inspire each other’s fashion.

  1. I love the vines in the backdrop. Most of all, I love how you added the tulle skirt and color blocked your shoes, tights and the aforementioned tulle skirt to really make the grey and magenta pop against the darker colors.

This ensemble is put together so well, I thought the tulle peeking out from beneath the dress was part of the dress! Hurrah!

  2. Why thank you. I am having a lot of fun putting together outfits for these photos. ;o)
