April Showers Bring May Snowstorms?

Tomorrow is the start of May and it is a full on blizzard outside right now so I am posting a photo of happier times with sunshine and blossoms to maintain my sanity. This tree is right below my office window and it’s blossoms don’t stay long in the Spring but they ares some of the most beautiful.

So to keep my spirits up and let you get to know me a bit better, I am participating in Friend Friday with several other fashion bloggers this week.

When did you first start blogging?
My blog had been a concept rolling around in my head for about two years before I finally got it fully developed and launched in January of this year. I had been Tweeting and posting to Flickr before I started this site but I wanted a space to call my own and thus meowsk.com was created.

Going back in time, what were you like in high school?
Oh dear, I was such a geek in high school – mousy hair, unusual clothing, super academic and most of all naive.

What’s the biggest change your high school classmates would notice about you now?
Confidence – I was so shy that in the seventh grade I didn’t speak without being spoken to for the entire school year. I think my classmates must have thought I was either mute or crazy, luckily there were a few with patience that I still keep in touch with to this day.

When did you first become interested in the fashion/beauty industry?
I suppose I always had a natural affinity towards clothes and being a graphic designer it seemed natural to create style out of my aesthetics. It was the industry that always deterred me from really becoming interested in it – the voice of bloggers influencing fashion has somewhat changed my perspective on the fashion industry and I want to be a voice in that arena.

If you had the chance to give one message to high school girls today, what would you say?
The best life advice I can give comes from a book called The Four Agreements, which are to be impeccable with your words, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions and always do your best. Making these agreements with myself has made my life infinitely better despite their obvious challenges. Also, always have fun – I guarantee you will look back at the drama one day with a smirk.

  1. Nice post Shauna. For the record, you were not a geek! I loved you then and love you still. Yes, you were shy. But, since I was one of the people that you spoke to, I didn’t notice too much. :) I am glad that we still keep in touch. I miss you! Lets do something soon please.

  3. Thanks for participating! These are great. I’m going to need to look up the Four Agreements. It sounds like a great book.
